Ice. Ice, Baby

Today we investigated the changes in state that happens when ice melts.
We each got an ice "baby" to look after. We predicted what would happen depending on where we chose to put our baby. Some of us chose to put the ice baby in the shade, some in the sun and Dylan put his in the cupboard!
We observed the change of state (solid to liquid) then we explained what happened and why.

Sumner School Spectacular Swimming

Over the past few weeks, Room 10 has been having exciting swimming lessons at Pioneer Pool. Every morning at 10:15 we caught a bus to the pool with Room 9. Sometimes we played "silent bus" and we were the champions!
On Tuesday we got to wear our pyjama's in the water and we did some water safety activites. Some of us went into the deep pool and we practised how to get in and out of the dinghy. We wore lifejackets and we huddled together for safety. In the little pool we made a wirl pool and lay on our backs and floated.
We had an awesome time at swimming!
